where is it?

The initial introduction can be done at the hubs. But there will be some days that we will need to go into local schools. Leisure centres and local parks.

Duration?

1 day per week – 5 weeks – 10 – 3.

Overview of Support offered

The course develops experience working with a variety of animals from our millipedes and tortoise to our dogs. You will learn how to clean them out. Know how to prepare feed for a variety of animals using relevant equipment. You will gain a greater understanding of health and safety around the various animals. Most importantly you will build relationships with the animals, by handling and communicating with them.

What equipment should I bring?

Warm clothing. All other PPE will be provided.

Outcomes expected

The young people will improve communication skills. They will be working in small groups and leading various activities. They will also experience teamwork, understanding others and developing resilience, problem solving skills. They will be able to seek employment with various organisations, ranging from RSPCA, Dogs Trust, Pet’s at Home, Kennels, Catteries, PDSA.
