Overview of Support offered

Are you creative and have an interest in drama as a way of communicating your message? Or are you interested in gaining skills that would require you to put on a production?
There will be a series of road shows that we would want you to be involved in and to help create and develop with the end product being a small drama piece being put on in your local community.

We are doing this by offering you the opportunity to try out drama workshops, write your own plays and small production pieces.

The workshops will last up to a maximum of 2 hours each and will be delivered at key locations across the Black Country.

The workshops are an opportunity for you to ‘have a go’. You don’t need to be a drama queen or king and you don’t need to have a drama background. The workshops are about exploring, development and growth creatively. Using chosen topics that you decide and key points that you’d like to explore. Drama is a way of giving you a voice, freedom of expression in a safe environment and will include Improvisation, Role Reversal, Mask Work . You decide and choose the topics that you’d like to perform.

The workshops are a place where you can let go and express yourself, meet new people and enjoy the company of other young people who have similar interests. The workshops will be developed at your own pace whilst at the same time you will be learning skills through improvisation, role reversal, forums, team building and character reflection.

There will be opportunities to perform and present but this isn’t essential. You may decide that you’d rather write the scripts, or produce the plays rather than actually be in the performance. These drama workshops could be the start of a career in performing arts if this was something you’d be interested in exploring.
